Abilities are featured on only a few Pokémon. They provide useful boosts to the whole Roster and not only the owner of the ability itself. Roughly 5% of all Pokémon are going to receive one
Requirements
1. The holder of the ability has to be in Roster Slot 6.
2. Enemy rosters don't activate their abilties.
3. The level of the owner of the ability has to be at least 40 % of the highest level in your roster
